The Car

The Porsche 911 has long been an icon and the 996 generation 911 was something of a shake  up for the brand with the introduction of watercooled engines to replace the traditional air cooled engine that was so popular with the purists. This has made the 996 something of a black sheep in the family though that is an attitude that has begun to change over the last couple of years.

This Targa 911 is in truly excellent condition and is practically showroom ready. Its been maintained fastidiously and the condition is far above any others we have seen, even with its higher mileage. The condition of this particular car has been recognised by both Porsche where it was serviced only 2000 miles ago and was said to be in very fine condition for its type. The car has also been a part of Porsche Club GB and was shown at the 2015 National Concours in the ’10 years plus’ category. This car is in such good condition that we are confident that many people would mistake it for a very low mileage example.

Paperwork

This Porsche comes with all of its original books including the service book with 9 stamps at Porsche main dealers or Porsche specialists. The car also comes with a heritage certificate from Porsche detailing the full specification of the car which includes most if not all options available at the time. There is also a folder with a healthy amount of old invoices that show work carried out on the car over its lifetime, with a good amount of the work being carried out at Porsche Main Dealers and some for large amounts.

Body & Paintwork

The paintwork on this car has been maintained to an excellent condition with a deep shine that only comes from hours of polishing over its lifetime. Silver may not be the most spectacular colour but on this car it looks just right. There is also some pearlescent grey detailing on the wheels, mirrors and a few other panels which really help to set it off. There are no marks on the bodywork and the car really does looks like its just rolled out into the showroom from the factory.

Interior Trim

As with the exterior, the interior of this 911 is unmarked and has worn its use very well. The car provides luxury and a surprising amount of space and could easily be used as a grand tourer as well as a sports car. There are no blemishes on the seats or on the hard surfaces and it is again easy to see just how well this car has been cared for. The Targa top on this car definitely makes it an event to drive with the large glass roof that opens right back and allows you to aurally enjoy this car even further than with a standard coupe.

Engine

The engine of a Porsche is an instantly recognisable sound to any petrolhead and this car is no exception. The engine of this particular car runs very well and sounds even better than you would expect. With the recent service at a Porsche Main Dealer you also have nothing to worry about going forward. The car pulls very well and the 315 horsepower on tap is more than enough to keep you entertained.

Running Gear

Unsurprisingly given the condition of the rest of the car the running gear is all in excellent order. The Tiptronic S gearbox changes smoothly and quickly – more quickly than you would expect for a car of this age too. This car is a very good example of what driver’s want from a Porsche, with all of the driving characteristics as they should be. The brakes are all very efficient and stop you quickly though not too aggressively.
