We’ve got three American pick-ups that have just arrived with us for sale, and this rat rod example of an International Harvester is a highly customised pick up that is a huge amount of fun and could be further modified or enjoyed as is.
The truck is painted in a ‘House of Thunder’ style with added ’68 Motorcycle Series’ detailing. The interior is nice and also modified though to my eye it looks a little unfinished (though perhaps that could add into the rat rod style too?), the truck has a wind out windscreen and custom clocks. The chequer plate door panels and dash are polished which looks pleasant.
Mechanically the truck is very non-original, with the cab and bed channelled over a late chassis, custom 2.5″ side exit exhausts at the rear of each door that sound fantastic and really add to attitude of this truck. The floor of the bed has been raised and the fuel filler cap is located in the centre of the bed. 15″ Pacer 5 spoke alloy wheels with 215.65.15 tyres on the front and 255.60.15 tyres on the rear. Power steering is also fitted which will come as a pleasant surprise when you realise just how small the steering wheel is. The engine bay looks fantastic and features an older Chevy V8 with later heads, tubular headers, fabricated alloy rocker covers, an Offenhauser 360 manifold, Carter AFB Competition carb 9637SA-2728, chrome air cleaner and a HEI distributor. A custom Alloy radiator and electric fan are also fitted.
This is a chance to purchase a fantastic rat rod that has performance as well as looks. This pick up has fantastic street presence and definitely has the ability to make itself known.
