1966 Daimler 250 V8

The story of this car isn’t that of any classic Daimler, but one that has been cherished and loved throughout its lifetime resulting in a car that has covered less than 5,000 miles and presents in stunning condition. You can find further photos and a walk around video below the description. This car would be the perfect addition to any collection of old Jaguars and/or Daimlers or as a lovely occasional car.

This is a 1966 Daimler 250 V8 which wasn’t registered new in the UK, but instead exported straight to the US by the first owner, though we do not believe it was registered in California, and remains as a UK specification car with no side markers or other modifications that are expected on a US registered car. The car was then reintroduced to the UK in mid 1988, registered with the same owner and then sold to a close friend who remained as the owner of the vehicle until purchased by us. This means that this is a two owner car with extremely low mileage which was warranted to us by the previous owner, who is also seeking a letter from the original owner to provide some back story to shed some light on the car’s life in the US.

The previous owner purchased the car for his wife as an anniversary present in August 1988 and prompted stored the car in a heated garage, and the car was kept in that way from then onwards. The car was only used in dry weather and in more recent times was taken out for nice trips out with the owner’s grandchildren (after the addition of rear seat belts). The car has always been maintained to the highest standard only visiting one specialist in the near thirty years of ownership, and the paperwork is immaculate in a rare way too, providing further testament to the owner’s care of his pride and joy.

The condition of the car speaks for itself, it is a beauty indeed and never fails to attract the attention of other people when out on the road. The paintwork has received some attention over the years with both flanks being repainted to keep the car in top condition. The brightwork is lightly patinated but in fine condition and really gleams. The interior is original to the car and very lightly worn agreeing with the little use that this car has seen over its life time, the cabin is truly a lovely place to be. The underside of the car is in very good condition as would be expected of a low mileage car that has been garaged for the entirety of its lifetime in the UK, keeping the effects of our damp climate at bay. The engine bay is also a very nice example of the kind and further confirms the low mileage nature of the car through its condition. The shut-lines are all good and the doors shut in a very pleasant manner that can be difficult to find in an older car.

The car drives fantastically and provides an elegant side to motoring that is quite rare today, the engine is smooth and luxurious with just the right amount of power and sound. The gearbox shifts smoothly and in a relaxing manner that only seeks to build the image of a beautiful classic car that is perfect for a Sunday drive out into the countryside. With tall tyres and compliant suspension the car is comfortable for longer journeys too that befits the Daimler badging.

As mentioned above the paperwork for this car makes for lovely reading, which can be quite unusual for a classic car. Every MOT from 1992 is provided and the mileages are listed below. There are many invoices for the favoured specialist of the previous owner detailing the upkeep of the car over its lifetime in the UK which extends to a large amount of expenditure.
